SMS Messaging Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
This page explains how text messaging (SMS) works with AnswerCove, how a customer consents to receive texts, and how to stop them. AnswerCove is an AI receptionist used by local businesses such as salons, auto shops, clinics, and home services to answer calls and texts. Text messaging is used to confirm appointments and to reply to customers who text the business.
How customers opt in (consent)
Consent to receive texts is always optional. A customer can call the business, book an appointment, and receive full service without agreeing to texts. Consent is never required to use the service or to complete any booking or transaction.
AnswerCove sends a text only to a customer who has agreed to receive one. Consent is collected in one of three ways:
- Verbal opt-in during a phone call. When the assistant books an appointment for a caller, it offers a text confirmation in plain language, stating that message and data rates may apply and that the caller can reply STOP at any time to opt out. A text is sent only after the caller clearly says yes; if they decline, no text is sent. The confirmation text itself ends with "Reply STOP to opt out," and STOP and HELP keywords are honored. See our SMS verbal consent page for the standard consent language and how consent is recorded.
- Customer-initiated text. When a customer starts a text conversation by messaging the business's number, that inbound message is their consent for the AI receptionist to reply and help them over text.
- Online sign-up. A customer can opt in on our text updates sign-up page by entering their mobile number and checking the consent box.
Consent is never bought, sold, or shared. A customer's mobile number and SMS opt-in are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
What messages we send
- Appointment confirmations. A single text confirming an appointment the customer just booked.
- Replies to questions a customer texts in, such as hours, services, location, and booking a time.
- Follow-up related to a specific appointment or conversation.
We do not send marketing or promotional blasts through this program.
Message frequency and rates
Message frequency varies, but is typically about one message per appointment or conversation. Message and data rates may apply.
How to opt out or get help
Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time. You will receive one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent unless you reply START to opt back in. Reply HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect your ability to call the business.
Privacy
For how we handle your information, see our Privacy Policy. Mobile information is used only to deliver the messages described above, and is shared only with the service providers (such as our messaging carrier) needed to send them.
